Who we are.
UNC Cadence is known as the sassiest a cappella group at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was founded by a junior named Mellissa “Lisa” Offoha in 2003 and has since established its presence on UNC’s campus. The group unites diverse and passionate young people who aim to make a difference through their music. Currently, the group consists of 12 sassy babes committed to producing a cappella that entertains, inspires, and empowers.
UNC Cadence aspires to be a group that is accepting of varying gender identities and expressions. This is including but not limited to nonbinary or any femme-presenting people. Simply put, UNC Cadence is a group of babes who empower each other and those around us through a love of music and a love for each other.
In addition to the Fall and Spring Concert held at the end of each semester, UNC Cadence performs at many on-campus and community events. The Campus Y, UNC’s oldest social justice organization, has sponsored UNC Cadence and complements its commitment to philanthropy and community service. Upon request, Cadence also performs at private events and special occasions. Get in touch now!
